Overview
Chikopokopo Helicopters provides scenic helicopter experiences and charter services from Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. Our website currently advertises short scenic flights, longer scenic flights, private flights and combination experiences.
A booking becomes confirmed only once the required payment has been received in full, unless Chikopokopo has agreed otherwise in writing.
Our services are aviation activities. Accordingly, safety, weather, aircraft availability, regulatory requirements and operational considerations take priority over convenience or itinerary preferences.
1. Rates and Currency
1.1 Unless otherwise agreed in writing, rates are denominated in United States Dollars (USD).
1.2 The net rate payable to Chikopokopo Helicopters is the amount stated in the applicable quotation or rate sheet.
1.3 Rates may change without prior notice before a booking is confirmed.
1.4 Once a booking has been confirmed and paid, the agreed price will apply subject to any additional services, changes requested by the customer, taxes, fees or third-party charges expressly disclosed to the customer.
2. Payment
2.1 Payment must be made in USD unless a different arrangement has been agreed and confirmed in writing.
2.2 Payment is required in full before a booking is confirmed.
2.3 If payment has not been received in full before the scheduled travel date, Chikopokopo may cancel the reservation.
2.4 A quotation or provisional reservation does not necessarily constitute a confirmed booking.
2.5 Customers should retain their payment confirmation and booking correspondence.
3. Bookings
3.1 Bookings are handled through Chikopokopo Helicopters’ reservations arrangements in Victoria Falls.
3.2 Charter bookings should ordinarily be made at least 7 days before the proposed charter date to allow appropriate flight planning.
3.3 Earlier bookings are recommended because all flights remain subject to aircraft availability.
3.4 A booking request should include accurate passenger and contact information.
3.5 The customer is responsible for checking that the names, passenger numbers, travel date and requested flight details supplied to Chikopokopo are correct.
4. Aircraft Availability and Substitution
4.1 All flights are subject to aircraft availability.
4.2 Chikopokopo may substitute the aircraft where this is required for operational, maintenance, safety, regulatory or logistical reasons.
4.3 An aircraft substitution does not automatically entitle a passenger to a refund where the replacement service remains materially equivalent and can be safely operated.
4.4 Where a material change prevents the agreed service from being provided, Chikopokopo will communicate the available rescheduling or refund options.
5. Flight Times and Experience
5.1 Published flight durations are approximate operating durations and may vary because of weather, air-traffic requirements, operational requirements, safety considerations and other circumstances outside Chikopokopo’s reasonable control.
5.2 The website currently advertises approximately 12–13 minute and 24–25 minute scenic flight experiences, together with private flight options.
5.3 The exact flight route may vary according to operational and regulatory requirements.
6. Weather and Operational Conditions
6.1 Helicopter flights are weather dependent.
6.2 Chikopokopo may delay, postpone, reschedule or cancel a flight where weather or other operational conditions make the flight unsafe or impractical.
6.3 The pilot and/or operational management will have the final decision regarding whether a flight may proceed.
6.4 Customers should not assume that a flight will operate merely because weather conditions appear suitable from the ground.
7. Passenger Requirements
Passengers must:
- follow all pilot and crew instructions;
- comply with safety procedures;
- provide accurate information requested for flight planning;
- comply with applicable weight and baggage requirements;
- arrive at the required location at the required time;
- behave appropriately and safely throughout the experience.
8. Passenger Weight
8.1 The existing Chikopokopo operating terms specify a maximum passenger weight of 120 kg per passenger.
8.2 Passengers should disclose accurate weights when requested for flight planning.
8.3 Where operationally possible, Chikopokopo may make alternative arrangements for a passenger exceeding the standard weight limit.
8.4 Any such arrangement remains subject to aircraft limitations, mass-and-balance requirements and the pilot/operator’s safety decision.
9. Prohibited Items and Conduct
9.1 Carrying illegal substances is strictly prohibited.
9.2 Passengers must not behave in a manner that could endanger the aircraft, crew, other passengers or third parties.
9.3 Chikopokopo may refuse carriage where necessary for safety, security, regulatory compliance or other lawful operational reasons.
10. Emergency and Search-and-Rescue Operations
Chikopokopo’s existing Terms state that its helicopters provide service to the Medical Air Rescue Service for search-and-rescue operations. If an emergency situation arises, a customer’s flight may therefore need to be cancelled or rescheduled.
This is an operational safety provision and takes priority over a scheduled recreational flight.
11. Aviation Regulation
All helicopter operations are subject to applicable Zimbabwean civil aviation legislation, regulations, operational requirements and directions of the Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe (CAAZ).
Zimbabwe’s Civil Aviation Act regulates civil aviation, and an air service operated for reward requires an Air Operator’s Certificate and must operate in accordance with its terms and conditions.
12. Third-Party Services
Where a booking includes services supplied by another operator, supplier, tour operator, park operator or other third party, those services may be subject to that provider’s own terms.
Where applicable, third-party fees such as park or conservation fees should be disclosed before or at the time of booking.
13. Changes to These Terms
No variation to these Terms will be binding on Chikopokopo unless communicated or confirmed in writing by Chikopokopo.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Zimbabwe.
Any dispute will be handled in accordance with applicable Zimbabwean law and the jurisdiction of the competent Zimbabwean courts.
